New Life Announces New Executive Director

The Board of New Life Community is pleased to announce the appointment of Walter Ginn as Executive Director. New Life Community is a leader in supporting homeless families successfully transition to permanent employment and housing in the Greater Cleveland area.

Walter brings an exceptionally diverse and strong background in management, finance, program development, resource development, and building collaborative partnerships. He also has significant relationships with many community stakeholders, including government officials, agency leaders serving homeless families, foundations, and other funders.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such an exceptional professional lead New Life Community,” said Charles Royer, Board President of New Life Community. “Walter brings an outstanding track record in building strong programs and leading successful organizations. He has demonstrated a passion, vision and energy for the mission of supporting homeless families successfully transition to permanent employment and housing.”

Walter has been serving as New Life Community’s Interim Executive Director since September 2008. In that time, he has developed an understanding of the needs and challenges facing New Life Community and already begun addressing them as well as opportunities that may be available to New Life Community.

“I am honored by the Board’s confidence and feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead this wonderful organization, providing critical services to homeless families in the Greater Cleveland area,” Ginn said. “New Life Community has outstanding programs delivering excellent results. I look forward to working with the talented and dedicated staff and board as we build on that foundation and reach out to the broader community as well as strengthen our services to program graduates to ensure their long-term success.”

Walter is an experienced non-profit leader in the Cleveland area. From 1996 to 2006, he led Towards Employment. During that time Towards Employment grew from a staff of 11 individuals, budget of $1.0 million, and one program to a staff of 40 individuals, budget of $3.0 million, and five strong programs serving over 3,000 low-income individuals each year. Since leaving Towards Employment, Ginn has consulted with a number of non-profit organizations. Prior to moving into the non-profit sector, for 20 years, Ginn served in legal, finance, and management capacities with two Cleveland-based companies. He holds a Bachelors degree in International Relations from Lehigh University, Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law, and Masters of Science in Management degree from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
